Indian Journal of Cryogenics (IJC) is the sole scientific and technical journal published in India by the Indian Cryogenic Council (ICC). ICC was founded by Prof. A. Bose in the year 1975 with its registered headquarter at the Jadavpur University in Kolkata. The following year (1976), ICC started publishing IJC comprising scientific & technical research papers in areas of low temperature physics, development of cryogenic hardware, superconducting materials and superconducting magnet applications. Steps were taken time to time to maintain the quality of the journal. As per the policy of the journal, the papers are accepted for publication on the basis of the positive review reports by at least two of our referees on journal’s panel. In the event of conflicting reports, the editorial board takes a final decision. We consistently follow this policy of maintaining the standard of IJC.
The journal owes its timely publication year after year much to our distinguished reviewers who, in spite of their tight schedule spare time and burn extra oil to carry out the job. Often, our reviewers have tough time and suggest corrections and modifications in the manuscripts and ask for revision. I admire their endurance and stamina. This is all in the interest of the ICC, the Journal and our community. I remain grateful to them. As a matter of our policy, we encourage our young researchers to publish papers with IJC and many of them happen to be first timers.
Our journal covers a wide range of topics such as; cryocoolers, space cryogenics, cryogenic refrigeration, superconductivity, heat transfer, cryogenics and superconductivity for particle accelerators, fusion reactors, cryogenic materials, cryogens, MRI and liquefied natural gas (LNG). I attribute the success of the IJC to the guidance and cooperation of all my colleagues on the editorial board, I take this opportunity to thank all the office bearers and the secretarial assistant. I also thank veteran Dr. R G Sharma, Prof. M D Atrey and Dr R K Bhandari for their guidance and advice on critical decisions. Finally, I thank the entire readership of the journal and the contributors who opt for IJC to publish their work.
